PHS Meadowbrook Farm in Jenkintown to reopen Saturday, multiple renovations

After major renovations to several areas of the 25-acre public garden since the end of 2021, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society will welcome guests back to Meadowbrook Farm beginning April 15. The farm will be open through October 14, and is located at 1633 Washington Lane, Jenkintown.

The entrance walkway has been re-constructed with a new path and design vision for its plantings. The main garden has been completely re-designed with emphasis on the usage of stately concrete planters brimming with pops of color and fragrance. More seating areas have been strategically placed throughout the gardens..

Within the farm grounds layout, there are more than a dozen quaint “garden rooms,” which have been refreshed for guests. The beloved “Herb Garden” has been renovated with new stonework, and new garden beds have been installed in the “Queens Garden” bursting with color.

Hellebores, daffodils, and bulbs are in bloom while cool season annuals mixed with emerging perennials and trees are beginning the process of leafing out.

Meadowbrook Farm was entrusted to PHS by the late J. Liddon Pennock, Jr. in 2004, and has educated and entertained visitors with its unique gardens since that date. Maintained by PHS’s expert horticulturists, Meadowbrook Farm offers free admission for guests and the garden experience changes each year with a new variety of beautiful plants and displays.

“After considerable renovations and design updates, we are thrilled to open the doors at Meadowbrook Farm this spring. With numerous enhancements to the gardens and planting changeouts throughout the year, there is something unique to experience each time you visit,” said Matthew Dougherty, Associate Director of Facilities, Administration, and Safety at PHS.
