Philly’s Cafe Carmela expects to open Huntingdon Valley location within 3 weeks, looking to hire

Cafe Carmela, a popular Northeast Philadelphia Italian family restaurant, is planning to open a second location in Huntingdon Valley within three weeks.

The new location was originally expected to open sometime in May.

An employee at the Philadelphia location told us that the building recently passed inspection, and that the last of the restaurant’s major hurdles are behind them.

The address of the new cafe is 2975 Philmont Avenue next to the John’s Water Ice shop.

From Cafe Carmela’s “About” section of their website:

Owned by Joseph and Anna Marie Maglio, Cafe Carmela is named after Joe’s mother Carmela who was born in Gravina in Puglia, Italy. Carmela immigrated to the US when she was only 3 years old. Combining Carmela’s Italian home cooking mastery, our talented chefs, and Anna Marie’s South Philly roots, you’re guaranteed an authentic Italian experience. We strive to produce the best in quality and service while offering the comfort of a home cooked Italian meal.

Management is looking to hire full- and part-time cooks, prep personnel, and dishwashers. To apply, you can email Cafecarmelaphl@gmail.com.
