Philly man sentenced 9-19 years on gun charges following a traffic stop in Abington

Luis Alberto Antonetti Jr., 46, of Philadelphia, has been sentenced to 9½ to 19 years in prison after a traffic stop by Abington Township police uncovered that he was in illegal possession of a handgun in April 2023, Mainline Media News reported today.

An investigation began when Abington police noticed Antonetti’s Toyota Camry on Old Welsh Road in Willow Grove fail to signal when changing lanes. According to Mainline Media, his vehicle also had an inoperable driver-side brake light and an expired inspection.

“While speaking with Antonetti, I detected the overwhelming odor of raw marijuana emanating from inside of the vehicle,” Abington Police Officer Adrian DeAngelo alleged in the arrest affidavit. “He complied and I observed a marijuana cigar on the driver-side floorboard. When asked, Antonetti stated that he did not have a medical marijuana card.”

A subsequent search revealed a bag “containing a large amount of marijuana packaged for sale”, a Kel-Tec semiautomatic firearm, a magazine with 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and an extended firearm magazine containing 28 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Antonetti’s felony charges include carrying a firearm without a license, person not to possess a firearm, and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
