PennDOT shares timelines for several ongoing projects in greater Glenside

PennDOT has shared with Glenside Local general timetables regarding four ongoing service projects in the area.

Philmont Avenue, Tomlinson Road and Pine Road Intersection Improvement Project (Huntingdon Valley/Lower Moreland Township)

This project will construct a multi-lane roundabout at the intersection below.

According to PennDOT officials, work can begin on or around April 13, 2026, with an estimated completion date of October 5, 2027.


Route 73 (Church Road) Intersection Improvements (Wyncote/Cheltenham Township)

This project involves improvements to improve traffic flow and safety on Route 73 (Church Road) at its intersections with Greenwood Avenue and Rices Mill Road. Proposed project improvements include roadway widening to support left turn lanes along Church Road at the intersection of Greenwood Avenue. 

Work began in April and the project has an estimated completion date of September 4, 2027.


Route 611 Bridge Replacement over SEPTA Tracks (Abington Township/Jenkintown Borough)

This project will replace the Route 611 bridge at the SEPTA Noble Station in Abington Township and Jenkintown Borough.

Work can begin on or around January 7, 2025, with an estimated completion date of June 15, 2027.

 Ashbourne Road over Branch of Tookany Creek Bridge Rehabilitation (Elkins Park/Cheltenham Township)

This rehabilitation includes the removal of earthen fill over the arch, reconstruction of spandrel walls, wing walls, and arch barrel ring stones as needed, reconstruction of parapet walls with concrete walls with stone facing, cleaning and repointing of walls, parapets, substructure units, and brick arch barrel, and utilities will be relocated into a utility bay section over the arch-topped full depth pavement.

Work began in March, with an estimated completion date of December 10, 2026.
