Paradise Halal Market, located at 35 Easton Road in Willow Grove, opened their doors at the end of May.

A community member recently highlighted the store in local Facebook groups: “a selection of Middle Eastern and North African spices, canned and jarred items, cheeses, produce, and a butcher counter,” the post said.

“Halal” is Arabic for permissible, and the term is often associated with Islamic dietary laws, especially meat processed and prepared in accordance with certain requirements. You can read more about it in Fine Dining Lovers and the American Halal Foundation, among other sources.

“We’re a general halal store,” owner Mohamed Muhana said. “We offer lamb, goat, beef, and chicken. All of it is frozen. We also have some overseas groceries.”

Muhana said he chose Willow Grove for its proximity to his home in Philadelphia and its reputation as a growing community.
