Pals For Life to host therapy animals event at Arcadia on Tuesday

Pals For Life, a non-profit organization, is hosting an event at Arcadia University on April 11 at 4:00pm featuring therapy animals.

Arcadia community members will meet on Haber Green to celebrate Pals for Life’s dedicated office therapy dog, as he approaches his 8th birthday. “Smart T. Pants’ Birthday Paw-ty” will feature Mr. Smart T. Pants, light refreshments, collaborative activities, lawn games, a raffle, therapy dog sessions, and photo opportunities.

“I am excited to see the community come together as we bring awareness to the benefit of therapy animals on college campuses,” Peggy Schmidt, Executive Director of Pals for Life, said. “We are grateful for Arcadia University’s student-run public relations agency, 1853 Communications, for helping us organize an event to spotlight our initiatives and dedication to the community we serve.”

This collaboration event will emphasize mental health resources available to the Greater Philadelphia community through Pals For Life’s own certified therapy animals. Therapeutic pets have been shown to improve mental and physical issues. They are known to reduce blood pressure and improve overall cardiovascular health, important factors for all ages of life. Interaction with these pets can release endorphins that produce calming effects, which in turn help alleviate pain and improve individuals’ overall psychological state.

Since 1985, Pals For Life has been dedicated to providing companion animal programs to individuals who need them most throughout the Delaware Valley area. Through multiple partnerships with surrounding schools and hospitals, their mission is to encourage pets and people to help each other live happier, healthier, and more fulfilled lives.  It is their firm belief that people need love, friendship, and four-legged friends to hug.

Peggy Schmidt, the Executive Director of Pals For Life, will be available for questions during the event. Photo opportunities will be available such as Arcadia students interacting with Pals For Life therapy animals, 1853 Communications students working the event, community members supporting a local non-profit, and more.
