OYRHS to host Spring lecture ‘The Philadelphia Motor Speedway – Warminster’, Old York Road Temple-Beth Am to host Sisterhood Annual Bingo

The Old York Road Historical Society will host a lecture by Jim Rubillo titled “The Philadelphia Motor Speedway – Warminster: An Unrealized Dream” on Wednesday, March 13 at 7:30pm in The John Barnes Room at Abington Friends Meeting.

From the free lecture’s description:

Early in the 20th century, automobile enthusiasts planned to bring “big time” auto racing to Warminster. The vision was to create a circuit that would rival the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway. An elaborate plan was developed, funding was secured, and actual construction started; however, it was never completed. Imagine eastern Montgomery County today if a successful speedway had evolved into an economic centerpiece of the area. Join us as Historian and OYRHS Board Member Jim Rubillo shares the tale of the rise and fall of this dream.

The talk will also be broadcast via Zoom (click here to login in). Login details will be posted day of the event.
