OYRHS to host local historian Marion Rosenbaum, author of ‘Images of America: Jenkintown’, on Nov 13

The Old York Road Historical Society will host Marion Rosenbaum, co-author of the recently published book on the history of Jenkintown Borough, on Wednesday, November 13 at 7:30pm at Abington Friends Meeting, The John Barnes Room, 520 Meetinghouse Road, Jenkintown

Rosenbaum will speak about Jenkintown’s 150 years as an independent municipality and will touch on a number of the stories that did not make the book.

Copies of the book will be available following the presentation.

About the Author

Rosenbaum is a retired librarian, archivist, and genealogist with extensive experience researching history in local depositories in the Philadelphia and Pennsylvania areas. She collaborated with the Old York Road Historical Society, which was founded in 1936 to preserve and promote the history of the communities along and adjacent to the Old York Road. The society’s collections contain over 250,000 photographic images, of which a few were selected for this book, supplemented by photographs in private and institutional collections.

She was also present in the Jenkintown Library during the unsealing of 48-year-old Jenkintown High student essays.
