Ophelia merging with new storm system, heavy rain, potential flooding on Friday

According to the National Weather Service, Tropical Storm Ophelia is merging with a newly developing system off the Carolina coast and will again bring heavy rain and potential flooding on Friday, September 29.

The region is under a hazardous weather outlook as the coastal storm will bring several inches of rain throughout the day. Rainfall rates of one inch per hour or more are possible at times, forecasters said.
