Op-ed criticizes USPS’ security efforts, mentions Cheltenham’s post office thefts

A recent op-ed in The Center Square called on the United States Postal Service to ramp up its security efforts in the face of numerous thefts that have been plaguing Pennsylvania broadly, and Cheltenham specifically.

The article mentions a Cheltenham police advisement from September which encouraged “residents not to put mail with cash or checks inside the blue dropbox outside the Elkins Park Post office on Ashbourne Road. The box, according to police, has been a favorite target for money-hungry thieves.”

The op-ed states that “Postal consumers have had to worry about their mail being stolen for far too long. It’s time for the USPS to reassess its mission and deliver on a secure and affordable mail system.” For The Center Square’s full article, you can click here.
