The Old York Road Historical Society will host their final spring lecture on Wednesday, May 10 at 7:30pm in The John Barnes Room at Abington Friends Meeting and on Zoom*.
The lecture, titled “Researching your Roots at the Office of the Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds Office”, will feature Jeanne Sorg, Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds. Her presentation will provide an overview of the types of documents that are recorded with the Recorder of Deeds, and how to search the database for current and historical deeds on your property.
Records date back to 1784 and are mostly public. Historical deed research, as well as other documents the Recorder of Deeds stores in perpetuity, can be a useful tool in learning more about your home and potentially family history.
A brief OYRHS business meeting will occur prior to the start of the lecture.
The lecture series is sponsored by a grant from the Jenkinstown Lyceum. For more information on Old York Road Historical Society, you can visit their website, Facebook page, and Instagram (oldyorkroadhistory), or call 215–886–8590.
*Zoom links with registration details will be available on OYRHS’ website and Facebook page the day of the lecture.
