On Wednesday, April 27th, a celebration was held to commemorate the opening of a multi-use trail connecting Montgomery and Bucks counties.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held that included Government officials representing Montgomery and Bucks counties, regional community groups and trail enthusiasts. The new stretch of trail is near the Southampton Train Station, and also close to County Line Road where Bucks County’s Newtown Rail Trail meets Montgomery County’s Pennypack Trail. The Pennypack Trail now extends for 6.2 miles, from Rockledge Park in the south, through Lorimer Park, to the Montgomery/Bucks county line

The trail was built on the former Fox Chase-Newtown SEPTA rail line, and offers visitors a 12-foot-wide gravel path with scenic views of the Pennypack Creek valley.
