New Salem Seniors Center in Roslyn to host ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday

Salem Baptist Church in Roslyn will be holding a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Salem Seniors Center on Monday, May 15 at 10:00am. 

In 2020, Abington Township granted $300,000 to Salem Baptist for the rehabilitation of a former church rectory and to create the Township’s first dedicated activity space for senior citizens.

The Salem Seniors Center is located at 1250 Easton Road, and the ceremony will feature short remarks followed by a ribbon cutting and a brief reception.

Noteworthy guests in attendance of the ceremony will be:

  • Gov. Josh Shapiro
  • County Commissioner Ken Lawrence
  • Rev. Marshall Mitchell
  • State Rep. Sanchez
  • State Rep. Guenst
  • Various Township Commissioners

Sen. Haywood is also likely to attend.

In 2021, Salem Baptist received a $750,000 grant to help fund campus renovations for an accessible community event and banquet space.

Salem Adult Citizens began operation in the fall of 1977, and was the brainchild of the late Pastor Emeritus Robert Johnson Smith and Mrs. Ethel S. Roland, who served as its first director.
