Last week it was announced that a new 100 seat music venue named The Royal is opening at 1 South Easton Road in Glenside. It is expected to open its doors in September.

The Royal is owned by two musicians, Bridgett Gordon (who also works in the legal field) and Jerry Clarke (who is an attorney and CPA).

On the venue’s website, Gordon and Clarke describe their vision for The Royal as follows:

Our vision is to provide a creative home where people of all backgrounds, music of all genres, and musicians of all experience levels feel welcome. We invite members of the community to come together and celebrate the local music scene, local artists, and local businesses. We want the musicians who play in our venue to feel they are participating in a “red carpet” event, whether they are novices just starting out or professionals who have toured for years. We want to treat musicians – and their listeners – like the royalty they are.

In addition to the live music performances, The Royal will also be available to rent for private functions.

A similar business named The Homestead operated in the space for a year, but the owners did not renew the lease. It opened two months prior to the start of the pandemic.
