District Taco announced that it had signed a lease to open its 15th restaurant in the Abington Towne Center at 1495 Old York Road.
“We have a mission. We are not building restaurants, we are building communities,” stated CEO and Co-founder, Mr. Osiris Hoil. “District Taco was created in my mom’s kitchen back in Yucatán, Mexico. Now it’s here across multiple states. I can’t tell you how happy I am to create more opportunities for those that need one.”
“Our mission is to serve quality Mexican (Yucatan style!) food that is fresh, simple and healthy. All of our food is made fresh daily from quality ingredients. We strive to limit our impact on the environment by serving in environmentally-friendly packaging where possible.”
Some of the food that will be available at the new District Taco Restaurant at the Abington Towne Center.
“This restaurant will be our third in the Philadelphia area behind our location in the King of Prussia Town Center and our Center City location in the new East Market Development,” according to the statement from District Taco.
“We don’t have exact opening date for our Abington location at this time,” stated Ms. Abby Campbell, Marketing Manager for District Taco. “We are due to begin construction in the first quarter of next year and are planning to open by the end of 2019.”
Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenny joined Mr. Osiris Hoil of District Taco at the grand opening event of the East Market Development. The District Taco Restaurant in scheduled to open in this mixed-use development in Center City Philadelphia in December.
District Taco will join Target, TJ Maxx, and other businesses at the Abington Towne Center on Old York Road.
“Signing this lease [at the Abington Towne Center] gets us one step closer our goal: To operate 20 restaurants and employ at least 600 people by 2020,” according to the statement from the restaurant. “District Taco hopes to not only bring delicious food to new communities, but to also bring exciting opportunities to the people of those communities.”
District Taco began as a food truck operation in 2009, according to the restaurant’s website. “District Taco has since grown and now operates multiple locations in Washington, DC, Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.”
