New Leadership Sworn In At Abington School District

Two individuals were sworn in as the new leaders of the Abington School District.

On November 13th, Dr. Jeffrey Fecher took the oath of office as the new Superintendent of Schools for the Abington School District and Dr. James Melchor took the oath of office as the new Assistant Superintendent.

Both were sworn in by Judge Gail Weilheimer of the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas.

 

Dr. Fecher is seen here being sworn in as the new Superintendent of Schools by Judge Weilheimer.  Joining in the celebration are Ms. Mikayla Skye Fecher and Mr. Jeffrey Fecher, Jr.

 

Dr. Fecher was most recently the Assistant Superintendent for the District.  Prior to holding that position, he was the “principal of Abington Senior High School and principal-elect of Willow Hill Elementary School,” according to the Abington School District.  “Before joining Abington School District, he was a middle school assistant principal in Flemington-Raritan School District and an English teacher at Bordentown Regional High School – both in New Jersey.  He received a Doctorate of Education in educational and organizational leadership from the University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Arts degree in educational administration from Rider University, and a Bachelor of Arts from La Salle University.”

According to the Abington School District, “Dr. Melchor has served as Assistant Director of Curriculum for the District since 2009, after previously serving as an elementary principal and middle school assistant principal in the Owen J. Roberts School District in Pottstown, and a social studies and science teacher at the secondary level in Delaware Valley School District in Milford.”

“Dr. Melchor received his Doctorate of Education in educational leadership from the University of Pennsylvania,” continued the statement from the Abington School District.  “Dr. Melchor also has Master of Science degrees in educational leadership and educational technology from Wilkes University, and in secondary education from the University of Pennsylvania.  He received his bachelor’s degrees from the University of Pennsylvania as well.”
