NBC’s Brenna Weick visits Elkins Park School’s gifted program

NBC10 reporter Brenna Weick recently visited students in Elkins Park School’s gifted program to teach them about empathetic interviews, Cheltenham School District announced today.

Weick presented interviewing tips and angles for stories with human impact for the students’ upcoming empathy project which includes journalistic storytelling.

“Every story needs to center on at least one character. It’s your job to find their depth and let them shine in your story,” said Weick.

She also showed the difference between posed and candid photos, and how they can tell different stories.

“I learned a lot from hands-on experience in the field,” Weick said. “I was once told, ‘We don’t transcribe. We translate.’ It’s our job to help readers understand what the person we are interviewing really meant.”
