Multiple crews respond to large housefire in Abington, family dog rescued from 2nd floor

The Roslyn Fire Company announced today that multiple crews were dispatched to a housefire on the 1700 block of Fairview Avenue in Abington Township early Tuesday morning.

Abington police told dispatchers that they observed “heavy fire conditions visible from both the first and second floors, along with reports of a possible dog still inside the residence,” according to the company.

“Upon arrival Chief 500 assumed command and Roslyn firefighters initiated an aggressive interior fire attack on the first floor, while members of the Weldon Fire Company arrived immediately after and performed a coordinated fire attack on the second floor,” Roslyn Fire Company said in a post.


After conducting an initial search, crews located and rescued the family’s dog from the second floor. No injuries were reported.
