Multiple crews dispatched to multi-vehicle crash in Cheltenham on Friday, entrapped occupant rescued

The Wyndmoor Hose Company announced today that crews were dispatched to a multiple-vehicle accident at Willow Grove Avenue and Cheltenham Avenue in Cheltenham Township on the evening of Friday, March 20.

Officials said one of the vehicles caught fire, and first responders were able to rescue an occupant from that vehicle before the fire spread.

“Initial reports described a 5 to 6 vehicle accident with an occupant trapped in a car that was on fire,” their post said. “Thankfully, bystanders were able to remove the occupant before the flames spread to the passenger compartment. Rescue 82 arrived and extinguished the car fire with assistance from Engine 1’s crew when they arrived.”

The post noted that the Glenside Fire Company provided assistance.
