Multiple companies extinguish roof fire at Montgomery Montessori in Abington | School bus involved in an accident in Lower Moreland, segment of County Line Rd closed

Multiple local companies responded to a fire at the Montgomery Montessori School (1620 Pine Road in Abington Township) at approximately 1:00pm on Thursday, November 14, Cheltenham Fire Company reported.

According to their post, arriving units found smoke coming from a heating unit on the roof. The fire was extinguished and all occupants safely evacuated the building, the company said.

The following mutual aid companies were on scene:

  • McKinley Fire Company
  • Weldon Fire Company
  • Rockledge Fire Company
  • Huntingdon Valley Fire Company
  • Bryn Athyn Fire Company

The Abington Township Police Department announced at approximately 2:15pm that Pine Road between Moreland Road and Moredon Road is closed due to the fire.


In related news, Emergency Alerts of Southeastern Pennsylvania reported a heavy entrapment following an accident involving a school bus and a truck on County Line and Buxmont Roads in Lower Moreland Township at approximately 5:40pm today.

According to their post, Squad 8, Squad 11, Bucks Rescue 4, Bucks Rescue 2, and Medic 355 are on scene. The post states “TRUCK VS SCHOOL BUS, TRUCK UNDERNEATH”. A comment claims that the bus had two passengers and a driver at the time of the accident, none of whom were injured.

At 6:02pm, the Lower Moreland Police Department announced that County Line Road is closed in both directions from Pine Road to Bustleton Avenue due to the accident.
