Multiple companies extinguish large brush fire at Lower Moreland / Bryn Athyn border

The Huntingdon Valley Fire Company announced that crews were dispatched at 6:44pm on Sunday, November 3 for a large brush fire off of Buck Road on the Lower Moreland Township / Bryn Athyn border.

Units deployed approximately 3,000 feet of five-inch supply line and 700 feet of hand lines. A firefighter was transported to hospital with a minor injury.

Officials said multiple companies from Montgomery and Bucks County were on scene, including Engine 8, Squad 8, and Utility 8. Fire Police 8 and Lower Moreland Fire Marshall were also on scene. Mutual aid companies included Bryn Athyn, Abington, Hatboro, Rockledge, Feasterville, Southampton, and Trevose Fire Companies, Montco Second Alarmers and Tri-Hamtpon Rescue for EMS.


“We thank all of the mutual aid companies for their assistance on this assignment,” the company said in a post. “Residents are urged to be extremely cautious outside due to the serious fire risk during these drought conditions. There is also a burn ban in effect for Lower Moreland township prohibiting any open fire including fire pits, fire works, etc.”

Montgomery County is currently under a Drought Watch.
