Abington School District recently announced that Ms. Kimberly Stokes was appointed principal of Copper Beech Elementary School at the August 8 meeting of the Board of School Directors.
Stokes replaces Dr. Fatima Rogers, who resigned this summer to pursue another job opportunity after four years leading Abington School District’s largest elementary school.
Ms. Stokes comes to this new position as a familiar face among the Copper Beech Elementary School community, which serves students in grades K-5. She was previously the building’s temporary Assistant Principal, and prior to that, had served as an Elementary Curriculum Specialist at the school, as well as, at Rydal Elementary School.
She has nearly 25 years of experience as an educator, previously serving as an Assistant Principal in Philadelphia, as well as having experience across a broad range of positions, including serving as a special education teacher and a reading specialist.
Ms. Stokes has a bachelor’s degree in education from Millersville University and a Master of Education from Holy Family University, in addition to certifications in School Administration, Elementary Education, Special Education, and Reading Specialist.
“With the 2023-2024 school year just a few weeks away, I have confidence in Ms. Stokes’ ability to dive headfirst into her new position in leading our Copper Beech Cougars,” Dr. Jeffrey Fecher, Superintendent of Schools, said in a letter to Copper Beech families and staff.
The first day of school for Copper Beech Elementary School students is Tuesday, September 5.
