Mrs. Margaret “Elise” Preite, Hatboro resident and well-known animal rescuer, has passed away at 64

Margaret “Elise” Preite, an Abington native, a resident of Hatboro, and a well-known animal rescuer in greater Glenside, passed away on Friday, July 19. She was 64.

Mrs. Preite worked closely with local police departments in Abington, Upper Moreland, and Hatboro to train and track lost animals, her obituary said.

“Elise was well known as one of the biggest forces in the animal rescue world as well. From showing up at 3 am. spending hours locating a lost fur friend to cancelling plans so she could hopefully reunite someone with their pet,” her obituary said. “When everyone else went home, she was still out there making calls and trudging through rivers, creeks, and wooded areas, hoping to find the lost pet she was looking for.”

“I never met her, but she heard from a friend of a friend that my dog Lucy needed a wheelchair and she and your Dad went out of their way to find a free wheelchair for me and did and then introduced me to a friend of hers, who became a friend too, who lent another wheel chair that helped my dog immensely,” a Facebook condolence said.

Relatives and friends will be received by her family on Friday, July 25th after 10:00 am in Schneider Funeral Home, 431 N. York Road, Hatboro, PA 19040 and are invited to attend her Memorial Service at 12:00 pm Noon. Her interment will be private.
