Mrs. Cecilia Pannepacker, wife of the eldest heir to Penny’s Flowers in Glenside, has passed away at 85

Mrs. Cecilia M. Pannepacker (née Leichner), wife of the eldest heir to Penny’s Flowers in Glenside, passed away peacefully on February 10. She was 85.

Mrs. Pannepacker began her career with the Times Chronicle Co. in 1956 as a part-time clerk and was later promoted to Chief Accounting Clerk in their Fort Washington office, according to her obituary. In 1960, she moved to the ESB-Reeves Corporation in Glenside as Secretary to the President, Director of Research, and Sales Manager of the Electric Storage Battery Company.

After serving as ESB-Reeves Corporation’s Executive Secretary to the Controller within the company’s international division in Philadelphia, she moved on to serve as the Executive Secretary to both the President and Executive Vice President at the Arndt, Preston, Chapin Lamb and Keen advertising agency in Philadelphia, her obituary said.

She was promoted and served her new role until she married Vincent J. Pannepacker, Jr., the son of Vincent “Penny” Pannepacker, Sr., patriarch of the family that owned and operated Penny’s Flowers in Glenside from 1937 to 2018. Mrs. Pannepacker worked at the store for many years when her children were older, her obituary said.

A calling hour will be held from 9:30am to 10:15am on Friday, February 20, in the Pearson Funeral Home, Inc., 1901 Linden Street, Bethlehem, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am in St Anne’s Church, 450 E Washington Ave, Bethlehem. Interment in the family plot will be held at 1:30 PM in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Philadelphia.
