Mr. Stephen M. Gray, former Bryn Athyn Borough Chief of Police, passed away on Saturday August 1. He was 59.

A graduate of William Tennent High School, Chief Gray went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. His law enforcement career began with Bridgeport Police Department in 1995 and continued in Bryn Athyn, retiring in 2023, his obituary said. He was also an actively involved member of the Fraternal Order of Police.

Prior to serving as Chief of Police, Gray served as a TASER instructor for 12 years and as an E.M.S.W.A.T. Crisis Negotiator for 12 years.

Following retirement, Gray authored two books about his life experiences, his obituary said.

Relatives and friends are invited to Chief Gray’s Life Celebration on Tuesday August 11, 2026 from 10 to 11:30 AM at McGhee-Givnish Funeral Home, 690 Belmont Ave, Southampton, PA. Words of Remembrance will begin at 11:30.
