Mr. Joseph Robert “Joe” DiFilippo, an Abington native, 1979 graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School in Wyncote (Cheltenham Township), former semi-professional football player, and former head coach of the Hatboro-Horsham girls’ softball team, passed away on Thursday, November 7. He was 64.

“A proud native of Abington and graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School, Joe went on to play semi-professional football with the Warminster Colts. He later dedicated much of his life to coaching youth and high school sports, including football, baseball, and softball,” his obituary said. “One of his proudest achievements was leading the 2011 Hatboro-Horsham girl softball team to a victory at the PIAA State Championship game.”

Mr. DiFilippo also owned and operated B&E Energy Group for more than 20 years, his obituary said.

Relatives and friends may greet the family10::00 a.m. Friday November 14th at St. Catherine of Siena Church 321 Witmer Rd. Horsham where Joe’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private.
