Mr. Harvey Fleeger, longtime Cheltenham High School math teacher and tennis coach, has died

Former Cheltenham High School math teacher and tennis coach Mr. Harvey Fleegler passed on Monday, July 10. He was 79.

Born October 4, 1943, Mr. Fleegler grew up in Philadelphia, graduating from Germantown High in 1962 and Temple University in 1966. Upon graduation from Temple, he began his teaching career at CHS where he taught math at various grade levels for over 35 years.

At CHS, Harvey coached some of the best tennis teams and players in school history. From 1967 to 1971 his tennis teams won five straight Suburban One League titles and an unheard of 58-straight league matches.

Mr. Fleegler also coached tennis at his alma mater Temple University. In retirement, Mr. Fleegler was an avid stamp collector, serving as the past President of the Chestnut Hill-Germantown Stamp Club.
