Gregory John Wall, a graduate of Jenkintown High School and former Mayor of Jenkintown, passed away on August 29 surrounded by loved ones in New Bern, North Carolina. He was 70 years old.
According to his obituary, Mr. Wall spent the majority of his life in Jenkintown before moving onto his sailboat in North Carolina during his last 2 years. He was owner and founder of Greg Refrigeration, a company which he ran for three decades in the greater Glenside area.
Mr. Wall served two terms as Mayor of Jenkintown, fondly calling it “his fifteen minutes of giving back.”
“Greg loved people, adored the ocean and was good with his hands. His passions came together in his love of sailing. In the summer you could find him at the helm, chatting with friends, out for a sail and in his happy place,” his obituary said. “He was both an avid and skilled conversationalist, as well as what he referred to as a ‘backdoor intellectual,’ interested in history, politics, the inner mechanics of things, literature and the arts.
A celebration of life will be held from 12:30 – 4:30pm on October 12 at the Oreland Inn, 101 Lorraine Ave, Oreland.
