Mr. Frank Malcolm Wivell, a US Army veteran and a former coach/umpire for Upper Moreland Little League, girls’ softball, and local youth basketball leagues, passed away on Saturday, November 30. He was 86 years old.
Mr. Wivell was a long-time resident of Willow Grove and most recently a nine-year resident of Wesley Enhanced Living in Hatboro. He also lived in Jenkintown where he worked at Standard Pressed Steel.
“He transitioned to become a ceramic tile setter and was a proud member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers for more than 50 years, even serving the union in advisory roles,” his obituary said. “He worked as a long time PIAA official in football, basketball, and baseball. He was a walking encyclopedia of everything Philly sports related, and lifelong avid Eagles, Sixers, Flyers, and Phillies fan.”
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday, December 13 from 9:00am to 10:00am and funeral service at 10:00am at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 501 Easton Road, Willow Grove. His graveside service will follow with military honors rendered by the United States Army at Whitemarsh Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Upper Moreland Little League, PO Box 63, Willow Grove, PA 19090.
