Mr. Douglas Smith, a longtime Spanish teacher, track and cross-country coach at Upper Moreland High School, passed away on Monday, March 23. He was 53 years old.

A multi-sport athlete and coach and a graduate of IUP, Mr. Smith was a father to three sons. His obituary described him as “a mentor, a source of encouragement, and a positive presence in the lives of so many students and colleagues.”

“His dedication, kindness, and passion for teaching and coaching made a lasting impact that will not be forgotten,” Upper Moreland School District said in a post.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Thursday, March 26, 2026 from 6pm to 8pm at the John J. Bryers Funeral Home, 406 Easton Rd, Willow Grove PA 19090 and on Friday March 27, 2026 from 9am to 10:45am at Queen of Peace RC Church 820 N Hills Ave, Glenside, PA 19038. 

Mr. Smith’s Funeral Service will follow at 11am at Queen of Peace RC Church.
