Mr. Chris Hamsher, Abington English teacher, passes away after long battle with Covid-19

Abington School District recently announced the passing of Mr. Chris Hamsher, an eighth grade English teacher at Abington schools for more than 20 years. Hamsher passed away on October 4.

Hamsher, who was survived by a wife and kids, had recently finished writing a young adult novel titled Alan’s First Labor. His loved ones launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for his memorial and for the book’s posthumous publication.

“He impacted EVERY student whether he taught them or not, and long after they graduated, he inquiried about their lives and continued being a cheerleader from afar. I loved him, because he always lead with love,” an Abington student’s parent wrote on Facebook.
