Mr. Anthony “Tony” Christopher Iaquinto, a Springfield High School graduate and longtime owner of Tony’s Pizza City (901 E. Willow Grove Avenue in Wyndmoor), passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, June 23. He was 68.

From his obituary:

Anthony was a kind and generous man who touched the lives of so many. He spent his career making his customers his friends, and serving up the “real deal” pizza. He woke early every morning to make the dough, prepare the sauce, and grate the cheese. He put his heart into every bit of the pizza, because his customers deserve “the best”.

Pizza City was not just your average pizza shop. When you entered those doors, you were greeted by a friend who truly cared and appreciated every single person he came in contact with. From Tony Sr. to Tony Jr., Pizza City was a staple in the community they were proud of.

Iaquinto sold the business in June 2022 and began volunteering for Montgomery County Meals on Wheels in Glenside at the Mount Carmel Church, according to his obituary in the Chestnut Hill Local.

A celebration of his life took place on Sunday August 3rd, from 1pm to 4pm, at the family home, located at 933 Tennis Ave, Ambler.
