Montgomery County’s Office of Public Health announced today that due to updated Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations, it has revised its 2021-22 school guidance for COVID-19 mitigation. The county now recommends universal indoor masking for all teachers, staff, students, and visitors to schools, regardless of vaccination status or school district level of community transmission (the previous guidance utilized a chart based on a district’s transmission level on when masking was required for the vaccinated and unvaccinated). The county also released new masking guidance for the general public aligned with the CDC’s four levels of COVID-19 community transmission (low, moderate, substantial, and high). The purpose of this guidance is to provide residents and businesses with masking recommendations for indoors and outdoors. This guidance also includes recommendations for the immunocompromised or those with increased risk of disease. You can view this guidance here.
