Montgomery County records the second day with over 500 cases of Coronavirus

Montgomery County’s COVID-19 dashboard reports that there were 587 new cases of Coronavirus on Friday, December 4th. This is the second-highest one-day case total. The record was set the day prior on December 3rd with 643 cases.

During the initial months of the pandemic (March, April, and May), the highest one-day total was 200. Starting on November 11th, it has topped 200 on most days. The total number of cases countywide since the start of the pandemic is now 22,616.

Thus far in December, there have been 15 deaths due to Coronavirus (five on December 1st, two on December 2nd, one on December 3rd, and seven on December 4th) in Montgomery County There were 33 deaths in November, which is up from a total of six in October. The number of deaths countywide since the start of the pandemic is 886.

The 14-day PCR positive rate is 8.37% as of November 29th. This is up slighting from 8.29% on November 28th. Having this number at 5% or under is considered suppression of the virus.

In regards to hospitalizations, as of December 6th, there were 449 patients in Montgomery County hospitals due to Coronavirus. This is up from 405 patients on December 3rd. On November 30th there were 342. There are currently 50 patients who require a ventilator. This is up from 44 on December 3rd.

The number of cases from the most recent 14 days is 1,338 more than the 14-days prior. The most recent seven days is 758 more than the previous seven days.

  • Abington is at 1,661 cases, which is 46 more than since December 3rd. There have been 76 deaths
  • Cheltenham is 1,259 cases, which is 32 more than since December 3rd. There have been 56 deaths
  • Jenkintown is at 106 cases, which is four more than since December 3rd. There has been one death
  • Springfield is at 908 cases, which is eight more than since December 3rd. There have been 91 deaths
  • Rockledge is at 77 cases, which is four more since December 3rd. There has been one death
