Montgomery County officials announced via a press conference today that there are 25 new cases of Coronavirus in the county. Five of these cases are tied to a long-term care facility. The new countywide total of positive cases since the start of the pandemic is 7,917.
Also announced were two additional confirmed deaths due to Coronavirus. The countywide total of confirmed deaths is now 780 of which 652 or 84% are associated with a long-term care facility. The number of total probable deaths is 88 (these deaths are not confirmed with a lab test).
Hospitals in the county currently report that there are approximately 100 patients due to Coronavirus and 25% are on a ventilator.
Over a 48 day period, the county’s community testing sites have averaged a positivity rate of 13%. If you just look at the last 14 days it is down to 11%.
County Commissioner Dr. Val Arkoosh was asked during the press conference when she believes Montgomery County will be moved to the green phase of the governor’s reopening plan. She stated that she believes that the governor will announce on Friday, June 18th that Montgomery County will move to green on Friday, June 26th.

The two charts above show the number of new positive cases over the past 14 days. The number of cases has declined by 445 in comparison to the previous 14 days. While the state has abandoned the formula of needing to have an average of no more than 30 cases per day over 14-days to reach the yellow phase of reopening, the charts show that we are still 18 cases off that original benchmark. However, if cases remain where they have been this week, over the next two days, the 14-day average will decrease dramatically. Falling off the chart will be two consecutive days of 80+ cases.

- There have been 64 deaths in Abington
- Cheltenham Township is at 509 cases, which is three more than June 17
- There have been 49 deaths in Cheltenham
- Jenkintown is at 29 cases
- There have been zero deaths in Jenkintown
- Springfield Township is at 523 cases, which is one more than June 17
- There have been 89 deaths in Springfield, which is one more than June 17
- Rockledge is at 17 cases
- There has been one death in Rockledge
