Press Release:
Montgomery County, PA is proud to announce that it has received an OpenGov High-Performance Government Award at OpenGov’s annual Conference in Chicago. The award recognizes Montco’s efforts in achieving $14 million in annual cost savings, and for cutting a $50 million budget deficit in half. As a result, the County delivered its first bipartisan budget in nearly a decade.
“Thank you to Thiago and the OpenGov team for recognizing our County as we continue to find ways to be the very best steward of our taxpayers’ dollars,” said Jamila Winder, Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners. “Leveraging the dynamic suite of OpenGov tools has taken how we operate to the next level while also helping us provide the public with a clearer understanding of how the County works for them.”
“Grateful to be recognized by OpenGov for our work as a high-performance government and that our County team could be there to accept this award,” said Commissioner Neil Makhija. “This is the kind of advancement residents should expect from their government. It reflects a deliberate shift toward smarter budgeting, stronger accountability, and a willingness to challenge outdated practices. We’re going to keep pushing for better results.”
“We take seriously our responsibility to be careful stewards of the public’s money,” said Commissioner Tom DiBello. “This recognition from OpenGov is appreciated, but the real measure for us as leaders is to continue to make sure that we’re delivering value, operating within our means, and keeping Montgomery County on solid financial ground.”
OpenGov’s High-Performance Government Awards recognize public sector organizations that are improving how they serve their communities through more effective and transparent operations. Fourteen winners were selected among more than 60 applicants submitted by local agencies nationwide, highlighting their scale, replicability and measurable results. This year, award winners collectively represented tens of millions of dollars in fiscal impact. Across the board, they managed 100,000-plus public assets, 90,000-plus infrastructure upgrades and more than 18,000 employees unified onto modern systems.
High-Performance Government Award winners are recognized yearly at the OpenGov Conference, where innovation meets impact. More than 1,000 government leaders gather for product certifications, immersive workshops, keynotes and networking events where users learn from their peers.
“We’re proud to recognize Montgomery County, PA for their leadership in driving meaningful outcomes for their community,” said Thiago Sa Freire, CEO of OpenGov. “Their work reflects what high-performance government looks like in practice, delivering greater transparency, efficiency, and impact for the residents they serve.”
