Montco DA investigating fatal officer-involved shooting in Willow Grove

Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele announced an investigation into an officer-involved shooting that occurred in Upper Moreland on Sunday, October 27.

Upper Moreland Township Police received a 911 call for a domestic disturbance at the Commerce Square Apartments in Willow Grove at 11:52am, police said.

Two police officers were permitted to enter the home of the 83-year-old female resident and found the 68-year-old male resident armed with a handgun. He ignored police commands to drop the firearm and eventually began to raise the firearm up, at which time police fired, fatally wounding the man.
