Mike Watkins, Bishop McDevitt alum & former athletic director/head football coach, to lead Pennington School’s football program

Michael Watkins, the former director of athletics and head football coach at his alma mater Bishop McDevitt High in Wyncote, will be the new head coach at the Pennington School, a private college prep academy in New Jersey.

Watkins, a 1999 graduate of McDevitt, joined Pennington’s staff as an assistant this past fall while serving as an admissions counselor and athletic liaison. He will take over for longtime coach Jerry Eure in the fall.

Watkins was named Philadelphia Catholic League Blue Division Football Coach of the Year in 2020 after taking over the Royal Lancers’ program in 2016.

He played collegiate football at Kean University where he was a four-year starter at defensive back.
