Michael J. Petrocik, 65, of the of the 2200 block of Oakdale Avenue in Glenside, has been sentenced to 3 to 6 years in prison for charges of homicide by vehicle and DUI, The Pottstown Mercury reported.
Petrocik was operating his vehicle at an “excessive speed” while under the influence of medically-prescribed Valium and marijuana when he struck and killed Mary Duffy, 61, on a sidewalk in the 3000 block of Philmont Avenue in Huntingdon Valley in December 2021.
He was convicted on June 29.
“He made a conscious decision to drive under the influence instead of getting a ride or simply choosing not to go to his destination. This decision came at the cost of Mary Duffy’s life,” Assistant District Attorney Gabrielle Hughes wrote in a sentencing memorandum.
