Man Who Abused And Assaulted 14-Year-Old Girl Convicted

Mr. Omar Harrison was convicted this week of several sexual abuse charges, including statutory sexual assault and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of an individual less than 16 years of age, among other crimes.

Mr. Harrison used to reside in the 400 block of Valley Road in Elkins Park.

He previously was employed as an administrator of Mastery Charter Middle School in Philadelphia.

Mr. Harrison was convicted following “a jury trial before Delaware County Court of Common Pleas Judge Anthony Scanlon,” according to Ms. Katayoun Copeland, District Attorney of Delaware County.

According to Ms. Copeland, the victim was a 14-year-old girl.  The District Attorney stated that “During the ride to [the Econo Lodge] motel [in Tinicum Township, Delaware County], the defendant told the victim ‘don’t be nervous, don’t be scared, if you want to do this, you can’t tell everybody, you’re going to get me in trouble.’  After the sexual assault occurred at the hotel, he drove her home and dropped her off on the corner.”

“Omar Harrison used his position of authority to manipulate, coerce, and sexually exploit the victim in this case for his own sexual gratification,” stated Ms. Copeland.  “He will now be held accountable for his actions and is facing lifetime Megan’s Law Registration.”

“The victim demonstrated incredible courage by providing detailed and accurate testimony during the trial, ensuring he will not harm anyone else,” continued Ms. Copeland.
