Jihad Henderson, 38, the suspect in an eight-year-old Cheltenham Township road rage murder, appeared in court for the first time on Wednesday, NBC10 reported.

Henderson is charged in the murder of 29-year-old Rithina Torn in October 2018. According to NBC10, Henderson shot Torn multiple times following a traffic dispute. Torn pulled his vehicle over while driving on Dewey Road and Front Street, at which point Henderson pulled out a gun.

Torn was taken to the hospital where he died a short time later. Henderson fled the scene and the murder remained unsolved for years, despite a $10,000 reward.

In October 2024, police responded to a reported shooting in a Target parking lot in Delaware County. Henderson was named a suspect, and investigators ascertained through ballistic evidence that the bullets from the 2024 shooting and the bullets from the 2018 shooting all came from the same gun that Henderson purchased in 2017, NBC10 sad.

Henderson was charged with murder in the first and third-degree as well as possession of an instrument of crime with intent in connection to the 2018 shooting. He is currently being held in Delaware County Prison.

“Torn’s murder was unsolved until that ballistics match provided a much-needed lead for our detectives, and I’m very grateful that we can finally share the news with teh victim’s familt that we have arrested Jihad Henderson on first-degree murder charges in Torn’s killing,” Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele said in May.
