Mall thief who jumped from second level arrested by Abington PD

The Abington Township Police Department announced that Abdi Wasuge of Tempe, Arizona was released from the hospital yesterday and taken into custody for committing a retail theft from the Apple store on the second level of the Willow Grove Park Mall.

According to police, Wasuge falsely implied that he had a gun before jumping from the second level in an attempt to flee.

He is being charged with robbery and related offenses.

On April 13, 2023, an adult male committed a retail theft from the Apple store located on the second level of the Willow Grove Park Mall. When encountered, he implied he had a gun and threatened to use it. The male then proceeded to jump from the second level down to the first level in attempt to flee. As a result of the fall, the suspect was injured. Abington Police arrived on scene and called EMS. The male required hospitalization. The male was released today from the hospital and was taken into custody by Abington Police. He is identified as Abdi Wasuge of 1906 E Del Rio Drive, Tempe Arizona. Investigation revealed Wasuge was never in possession of a firearm. He has been charged with robbery and related offenses and is currently awaiting arraignment.
