The Lynnewood Hall Preservation Foundation (LHPF) announced that a collaborative event between Lynnewood Hall and Laurel Hill Cemetery will be held on Friday, April 10 at Lynnewood Hall (920 Spring Avenue, Elkins Park).
The event, titled “Echoes of the Titanic,” includes a reception featuring light fare and a complimentary first drink, as well as an evening lecture by Craig Sopin, one of the foremost Titanic experts in the United States.
From the description:
Drawing from decades of research, collecting, and consultation with museums and media, Sopin will examine the Titanic’s history, material culture, and the human stories that continue to resonate more than a century later.
Sopin will be joined by Edward Thome, Executive Director of the Lynnewood Hall Preservation Foundation and Nancy Goldenberg, President & CEO of Laurel Hill, who will moderate a Q&A session and explore the significance of the Titanic from both a global and deeply local perspective, including Philadelphia’s direct connections to passengers and survivors.
A guided tour of Laurel Hill will take place on April 11 and April 18, during which participants can visit the gravesites of Titanic passengers laid to rest in the cemetery at 3822 Ridge Avenue, Philadelphia.
“This program not only highlights the rich history of Lynnewood Hall but also connects it to the enduring legacy of the Titanic,” the LHPF said in a post. “Join us as we open our doors to the community and share these powerful stories.”
