LSCHS senior achieves Eagle Scout ranking following Briar Bush Nature Center project

Ben Lester, a member of Jenkintown Scouts BSA Troop 201, was named an Eagle Scout following a Board of Review appearance on Wednesday, March 25.

For his Eagle Scout project, Lester led 30 volunteers in planting 100 trees in clearings within the Briar Bush Nature Center in Abington Township in November.

A scout since kindergarten and a senior at La Salle College High School in Wyndmoor, Lester has served as senior patrol leader for two years and as the senior patrol leader of an ad hoc troop that attended the National Jamboree in 2023.

Following graduation this spring, Lester plans to study Mechanical Engineering.

His sister, Julia, led a 2023 Eagle Scout project which involved building a pedestrian bridge at Briar Bush Nature Center.

“Both Ben and Julia spent a lot of time at Briar Bush as young kids and naturally saw it as a way to give back,” their father and Assistant Scoutmaster Greg Lester told Glenside Local.
