LSCHS mourns the loss of two former trustees: James E. Hasson and James F. Foley ‘56

La Salle College High School in Wyndmoor announced the passing of two former trustees: James Hasson and James Foley.

Mr. Hasson passed away peacefully on May 8. He was 83 years old.

He served on the Board of Trustees at La Salle College High School, La Salle Academy, Little Flower High School, and Wissahickon Trails.

Mr. Hasson graduated from Spring-Ford High School, obtained engineering degrees from Pennsylvania State University and Drexel University, and completed graduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business, his obituary said.

He also served his country in the Army National Guard. During his long business career, he held executive positions with leading industrial manufacturers and later shifted his focus to entrepreneurial pursuits. He owned several businesses and provided opportunities to hundreds of employees, his obituary said.

Mr. Foley died peacefully in his sleep at Saint Joseph’s Villa in Flourtown on April 29. He was 85 years old.

He attended La Salle College High School and went on to graduate from Villanova University with a degree in engineering.

After many years as the vice president of a commercial roofing company, he went on to pursue one of his true passions, development and fundraising, his obituary said. He had a long career serving in executive roles for organizations such as Holy Redeemer Hospital, The Copernicus Center, and special education school Melmark in Berwyn.

Mr. Foley was inducted into the La Salle College High School Hall of Fame and served as a member of the school’s Board of Trustees.

Services will be held May 20 at Saint Joseph’s Villa.  A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30am, followed by Mass at 10:30am. Interment will be private.
