Lower Moreland police arrest man for evading arrest after committing retail theft at a CVS

The Lower Moreland Police Department announced today the arrest of Raymond Wright, 33, for evading arrest after committing retail theft at a CVS located at 670 Welsh Road in Huntingdon Valley on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.

According to the report, Wright drove away from the store after exiting while carrying a red store basket containing unpaid items, which set off the anti-theft alarm. A neighboring police department later spotted his truck and initiated a traffic stop, during which the red basket with stolen items was found inside the truck.

As officers attempted to apprehend Wright, he reversed the truck abruptly, nearly hitting an officer, and then fled the scene at a high rate of speed, police said.

Lower Moreland detectives confirmed Wright’s identity and a warrant for his arrest was issued.

Initially, Wright was taken into custody in a different state on unrelated charges. Eventually, Lower Moreland police apprehended Wright and presented him in court on July 9, 2025.
