Lower Moreland police arrest man for assault with bear spray

The Lower Moreland Police Department announced today the arrest of Arthur Blaker, 54, for tagging a gas pump and a vehicle with a bear and mountain lion spray canister.

Officers responded to 2500 block of Philmont Avenue in Huntingdon Valley on September 30, 2024 for a report of assault. The suspect fled the scene in a truck, which was described by witnesses as a large, white dump truck with a yellow trailer attached to the back, police said.

An investigation showed the suspect’s vehicle pulling up beside the victims’ vehicle, then spraying an orange substance out of the driver’s side window. The substance covered a gas pump and the side of the victims’ car. 

On October 1, 2024, the suspect’s vehicle was located. The driver, later identified as Blaker, initially denied involvement in the incident but later admitted to spraying the victims with the canister, which was found in the vehicle.

Blaker is being charged with the following:

  • (2) COUNTS OF 1301 A DR UNREGIST VEH
  • (1) COUNT OF 1786 F OPER VEH W/O REQ\’D FINANC RESP
  • (1) COUNT OF 4703 A OPERAT VEH W/O VALID INSPECT
  • (1) COUNT OF 5503 A1 DISORDERLY CONDUCT ENGAGE IN FIGHTING
