Lower Moreland police arrest 2 men for driving a stolen car, providing false identification

The Lower Moreland Police Department announced today the arrests of Charles Parks, 29, and Aaron McKelvy, 30, after they were found in a stolen vehicle in Huntingdon Valley.

According to the report, police spotted a stolen Pennsylvania license plate on a silver Nissan Pathfinder traveling eastbound on Philmont Avenue from Huntingdon Pike on Thursday, January 22. Officers located the vehicle on the 2800 block of Philmont Avenue and identified Parks as the driver.

Parks then provided a title for a Chevrolet but was unable to provide a bill of sale or proof of ownership, police said. An investigation revealed that the vehicle’s identification number was also reported stolen.

Officers also recovered marijuana from Parks. He was arrested and charged with the following: 

  • (2) COUNTS OF 3925 A RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY
  • (1) COUNT OF 780-113 A31I POSSESSION OF SMALL AMOUNT OF MARIJUANA

The vehicle’s two passengers, one of whom was a juvenile, were contacted. McKelvy, the other passenger, provided false identification information which did not match the information on a social security card found in his wallet, police said.

McKelvy was transported to the police station where his real identity was confirmed. He was found to have an active warrant out of Philadelphia for a probation violation and received the charges below:

  • (1) COUNT OF 5126 A FLIGHT TO AVOID APPREH/TRIAL/PUNISH
  • (1) COUNT OF 4914 A FALSE IDENTIFICATION TO LAW ENFORCEMENT
  • (1) COUNT OF 5101 OBSTRUCT ADMIN LAW/OTHER GOVT FUNC
