Jonah Bailis, a Huntingdon Valley native, Lower Moreland High School graduate, and a senior attending the University of Hartford, has begun an internship through the Office of Naval Research’s Naval Research Enterprise Internship Program (NREIP) at Naval Medical Research Unit (NAMRU) San Antonio.

NREIP places college and university students in the Department of the Navy laboratories where they take part in real Naval research for ten weeks during the summer. The program “gives academically talented college students, graduating seniors, and graduate students pursuing STEM careers the opportunity to learn about Naval research and technology while receiving first-class mentoring by top scientists and engineers,” a press release said.

Bailis is an acoustical engineering and music major at Hartford. His accolades include an outstanding musician award at the National Jazz Festival in 2021 as a junior at Lower Moreland High.
