Lower Moreland Township Police Department Chief David Scirrotto announced today his retirement from the force after 32 years of service.
According to his message, Scirrotto is leaving at the end of May to assume duties as the next Chief of Police of Buckingham Township in Bucks County.
From Chief Scirotto’s announcement:
To the Lower Moreland and Bryn Athyn Communities,
After over 32 years of service, I am announcing my retirement from the Lower Moreland Township Police Department at the end of this month. I want to sincerely thank you for the honor to serve you all, especially over my years as your Chief of Police. There are too many people for me to thank by name, who have been part of my personal life and professional career. I hope that you all know who you are.
I am confident that the men and women of the Lower Moreland Township Police Department will continue to serve you at the highest level possible.
I could not be prouder of the relationship we have built between our police department and the community. I must tell you that it would not have been possible without the trust and support of Township Manager, Christopher Hoffman, and your current and previous Board of Commissioners, who allowed me to implement the vision for the modern police agency we have become.
Over the last 5 1/2 years LMPD has established itself as a true leader in training, recruitment, community engagement and police services throughout the region. None of this could have been accomplished without the commitment of our team of police officers and non-sworn staff I have had the incredible privilege to serve alongside.
As I leave to continue my career as the next Chief of Police of Buckingham Township, Bucks County, I am committed to continuing my efforts to improve policing both regionally and across Pennsylvania.
I will never forget my time spent serving here in Lower Moreland Township. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Sincerely,
David J. Scirrotto
